Christianshavn
This is where the world famous freetown Christiania with its bohemic, drug
glorifying lifestyle
and its wood houses is situated. I have no pictures of Christiania though. Christianshavn is
much more and mostly
consists of "normal" old houses. It is a nice, picturesque district,
situated southeast opposite the city center from the dividing canal.
Christianshavn is an often forgotten neighbourhood, on the opposite side of the canal from the city center.
We went to a very good Mexican restaurant there.

Vor Frelsers Kirke (Church of Our Saviour). It is 89 m high and was completed
in
1696. It is very cool with its spiral roof.
At the Skyscrapercity meeting in summer 2006 I climbed the stairs to the top of
this building together with the young
fellows of the forum.
The skyline views from the top of the church can be seen in the skyline section.

Christians Kirke, also in Christianshavn. It was a bit hard to figure out the
name of the church.
Look! This old Christianshavn house looks really slanting.

Dusk in Christianshavn.
These Lincoln limos are not rare in the capital of Denmark!

Christians Kirke mirroring in a nearby glass building.
Looking towards Radisson SAS Scandinavia Hotel and some nice houses close to Christiana.

In July 2005 I visited the Dream of Tower exhibition at The Danish Centre of
Architecture in Christianshavn. It is an exhibition about 46 skyscrapers in
different
parts of the world. The positive surprise was that the models where
taller than
I expected; 2-3 m, taller than I am and I am tall! But the models
didn't have any
façade painted, they where just white. The main focus
was on Turning Torso.
Freedom Tower (old design), Monument to the 3rd international in St Petersburg
(2nd tallest structure on the exhibition) and Shanghai Financial Center.
The St Petersburg monument was proposed in 1919 and was meant to be 400m high!
