Opernplatz

Opernplatz is where the Alter Oper (old opera house) is. This area is situated between the financial district and Hauptwache, close to the old town. The small, but beautiful park Bockenheimer Anlage is situated next to Opernplatz. Be sure not to miss the night photos from Opernplatz in the
Frankfurt by night section! Goethestrasse, Frankfurt's most exclusive street, begins here.

Alte Oper, the Old Opera. This famous building, inaugurated in 1880, was heavily damaged by the allied bombs in 1944, and wasn't rebuilt until 1981.Because the
new opera house already was built at the inauguration, Alte Oper was converted into a concert hall. Many important works have been premiered here, including Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana".
