Tallinn skylines and views
CITY CENTER, OLD TOWN, OUTSKIRTS, NIGHT AND DAY

The city center has a very well preserved Old Town (Vanalinn) with large parts of the city wall intact and tall church towers. On the other hand there is a modern part with glass skyscrapers and large shopping centers (Kompassi) and innovative architecture (in Rotermann Quarter), and the city has a pretty decent skyline for being a Northern European city, with a mix of medieval towers and modern skyscrapers. The skyline has changed dramatically the last 10 years, since most new downtown highrises have been constructed after 2000. The TV tower in the outskirts is also very prominent, it is not only Tallinn's tallest structure, it is also the 3rd tallest tower in the Baltics, and it offers view of the city from afar. The tallest building is St Olav's Church and the tallest highrise is the hotel Swissôtel. The best view of the skyline (old and new) is from Toompea Hill. I also had the opportunity to take pictures from the plane on the way back home.
