Barcelona skyline

Barcelona's skyline is more impressive than I expected. Actually, the city doesn't have one skyline, but several smaller ones spread out all over the city. The one at Avinguda Diagonal, called Diagonal Mar, didn't even exist before 2002, but is the largest and fastest growing. Not so far from Diagonal Mar, at Place de les Glories Catalanes, stands Torre Agbar, Barcelona's 3rd tallest, alone. The 2 tallest ones are the Villa Olímpica Towers (Hotel Arts and Torre Mapfre), but they will soon have company by a 3rd lower tower (Mare Nostrum). Just north of Placa d'Espana, at Carrer de Tarragona, 4 modern skyscrapers around 80 meters creates a cluster together with some smaller highrises. The old churches, especially Sagrada Familia and the Gothic Cathedral also contributes to Barcelona's skyline. At the Tibidabo mountain, Torre de Collserola stands as Barcelona's tallest structure high above everything else on the left side of Temple Sagrat Cor. In the harbour, the observation tower Torre Jaumei stands close to the much lower WTC and just were La Rambla ends stands Torre Colon (Columbus Tower), Barcelona's first skyscraper, close to the Columbus monument. There are also other taller highrises at 70-80m spread out all over the city. The suburbs of Hospitalet (a large city between Barcelona and the airport) and Sabadell also have an increasing number of tall highrises.
