Gothenburg's skyline is changing rapidly! If you walk up Stigbergsleden to Stigbergstorget, there are nice views of Gothenburg there. Even better views you can see if you walk along Kjellmansgatan upwards towards Masthuggskyrkan, that is situated on rocks with great views of the city! Gothenburg is traditionally known as a lowrise city but lately, especially around 2021-2023, many new highrises and skyscrapers have been built. Karlatornet, part of Lindholmen on Hisingen island, will be Scandinavia's tallest building in 2023 (245m). Karlatornet will be a 73-storey all residential building and has an unusual twisted design by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill (Burj Khalifa, Sears Tower) on the upper part. Around Karlatornet, several other (lower) skyscrapers will be built in a new area called Karlastaden. There is a new residential highrise on the modern Eriksberg area on Hisingen. Clarion Hotel Draken is the tallest building in a cluster of new highrises at Järntorget. Gothia Towers is three glass hotel towers at Liseberg ( a 4th tower is planned), an amusement park that has a tall ride and a tall ferris wheel, and Lilla Bommen, also called the "lipstick" is formerly Skanska's traditional red and white highrise in the city center. Next to it is the new bridge to Hisingen. Sjömanstornet, built to in the 1930s commemorate warriors that lost life at sea, is a tall structure next to the Shipyard Museum. Älvsborgbron is the largest bridge and longest (900m) that connects Gothenburg with Hisingen over Göta Älv. It opened in 1966. At Gårda at the Southern entrance to the city you find brand new skyscrapers, the tallest ones are City Gate, Gårda Vesta and Kineum (the latter one has a very unusual design). And more will be built. Brudaremossenmasten is Gothenburg's tallest structure (331m), situated on the 125m high mountain Slättåsberget.
