City Center (Linköping centrum)

This is the historical heart of Linköping where you can find the cathedral, the castle, the city hall and other important buildings.



Linköpings Domkyrka, The Dom church from 1360 is the most famous and dominating building in the  city. It is Sweden’s 2nd tallest church (after Uppsala Domkyrka). It is the seat of the bishop.



The cathedral was built in neo-gothic style and is huge compared to all other buildings in the city center.



The 107m high tower of Linköpings Domkyrka. It was built under king Oscar II:s  government.
The cathedral tower was built between 1877 and 1886 and was drawn by Helgo Zettervall.



The impressive interior of the cathedral. It was renovated in 2003. The cathedral has 4 bells.



Just opposite the cathedral, in the middle of Sweden’s 5th largest city, lies these country style buildings.



Linköpings Slott, (Castle). Sweden’s oldest preserved profane building. The oldest parts are from the 1100s and it is situated next to the cathedral.



Linköpings Stadshus, The City Hall in neo-gothic style. Next to the castle and the cathedral.



Scandic Frimurarehotellet. A castle like building from 1910 in national romantic style. Part of the building, locally called “Frimis”,  still houses the freemasons.
