Chelsea, Notting Hill, Madame Tussauds

Chelsea is another traditional district (part of the Kensington and Chelsea borough). It is famous for the football team with the same name, but also the annual Chelsea Flower Show. King’s Road is a fashionable shopping street, with upmarket brand stores, that we visited in 2006. The buildings themselves are not always in the best condition however. Sloane Square is a major square in Chelsea. Chelsea is facing the Battersea Power Station on the opposite side of River Thames, the art deco power station that became famous through Pink Floyd’s cover to the their 1977 album Animals.

Notting Hill is an upscale neighbourhood with fancy Victorian townhouses and luxury cars. It became famous when the movie with the same name (starring Julia Roberts and Huge Grant) was released. But when we was there, we hadn't seen it yet (but now we have), so we didn't know that we sat right outside the Notting Hill Gate, the same gate to Holland Park as the actors in the movie when we were there. Notting Hill has a famous market and Portobello Road is another nice shopping street with a famous market, but we haven’t visited it yet. Notting Hill is also a multicultural district and also known for the Notting Hill Festival.

Marylebone is where you find the Madame Tussauds Wax Museum. This is the original Madame Tussauds in the world. It was founded by wax sculptor Marie Tussaud 1835. The museum displays was figures of celebrities and historical persons.
