City center - modern part II

CASTALIA, CLIOPLEIN, HOFTOREN, HAAG CENTRAAL

In the East part of the city center of The Hague, near the central station, many of the Netherlands tallest buildings outside Rotterdam are situated. Most of them, including the tallest ones the 2 brand new ministry buildings, have been constructed the last 10 years and features striking design. Before that The Hague's skyline was almost non existent. The East part of the city center has many large scale projects, and even more are under construction. Some of the world's most prominent architects have been involved in constructing this area, just next to the railway. This is part 2.

The cluster North of the Central Station, Beatrixkwartier

Haagse Port, built in 1995, is one of the most significant buildings in the cluster just North of the Central Station (Haag Centraalstation). It is famous for its futuristic gate that is constructed right above the 2 levelled highway! The tower above it has 17 floors.

Castalia. A  104m tall highrise completed in 1998. It is inspired by Hansa houses and designed by Michael Graves. It is 104m to the roof and has 21 floors.
